Proper seed preservation requires proper drying and cold storage, preferably freezing. The Seed Preservation Kit provides you with the simple necessities for proper drying and freezing, including: - Food-Grade Desiccant: Approximately one pound of FDA-approved desiccant pouches to use in drying your seed prior to freezing or cold-storage. Proper drying is mandatory or the moisture in the seed will freeze, expand, and kill the seed. We include enough desiccant to dry our largest seed packages quickly, and it can also be re-used time and time again for about 5 years (shelf life). They also come in small, FDA-approved packets of approximately 1.2 ounces, so you can also split it out to dry multiple batches simultaneously if you prefer to.
- Airtight Mylar Bags: Two 2-gallon airtight, sealable mylar bags to keep your seed dry and safe in your freezer. Mylar does not allow for oxygen or moisture penetration, so your seed will stay dry and cold for years. Bags are very durable, and can be re-sealed over and over again with a normal household clothing iron and a piece of wood in seconds.
